Project Description

The project aims to establish a living laboratory for networking the value chains in the agricultural and food industry in the District of Vechta.

In addition to researching explicit added values through the use of the 5G communication standard, 5G campus networks are being constructed.

The focus is on the protected data exchange and the increase in animal welfare, animal health, sustainability, environmental and resource protection as well as transparency in the value chain for the consumer.

Measures will be developed for prevention and early detection through AI- and video-based real-time analysis and correlation of animal behavior with animal-related environmental parameters and other data from inside and outside the value chain.

The use of artificial intelligence, for example in camera-based animal welfare determination, and the numerous data processing operations involve a number of legal issues. Meanwhile, legal questions of data protection law and those of liability and contract law also arise.
